Johanna Niegel joined Allgemeines Treuunternehmen (General Trust Company; ATU) in 1999 after having obtained broad international work experience as an associate with international law firms based in Vienna, Budapest, New York and Moscow. She furthermore edits Trusts & Trustees' "Private foundations: a world review", which is published by Oxford University Press.

Johanna took a doctorate in law at the University of Vienna Law School and graduated from Columbia University School of Law, New York, having obtained a Fulbright scholarship. Her specialisation lies in the field of Russian & Eastern European Law, in which she holds the Parker School Recognition of Achievement with Honors in International and Foreign Law. She also serves as Secretary-General of the Liechtenstein-Russian Society.

Johanna was awarded her STEP Diploma in International Trust Management with Distinction in September 2005 and serves as Student Liaiason Officer of the Swiss-German and Liechtenstein Centres and as Committee Member of the Student Liaison Committee of STEP Worldwide.

Johanna is fluent in German, English, Russian and French and Italian.
