Prinz Michael von Liechtenstein acquired a Master Degree in business administration (Magister der Sozial- und Wirtschaftswissenschaft) at the University of Economics (Wirtschaftsuniversität) Vienna. This included also various practical training periods and work with banks and manufacturing companies in the US, Canada and Belgium (Brussels).

From 1978 to 1987 he was working in the international food industry with Nestle. First in controlling and financial management in various markets in Europe and Africa and then in the general management in a foreign subsidiary and finally marketing management for frozen food in Europe.

In 1987 he returned to Liechtenstein as Managing Director of Industrie- und Finanzkontor Etablissement, Vaduz, a leading financial services and trust company and is now its President and CEO.

He is a member of various professional organisations like STEP and is also engaged in certain free market think tanks.
