Wealth Protection - 4th March 2010
This course, structured in eight session spread over 2010, is designed and led by experts from City of London law firm Speechly Bircham and BDO plus other invited speakers as appropriate. Full details attached. Registration closing is 5 days before the course. Wealth Protection The impact of divorce on the planning and structures of wealthy families varies significantly across the jurisdictions. In no case will it be beneficial, but in the most serious instances, courts such as those of England may be quite willing to interfere with, alter and sometimes wreck carefully considered trust and corporate structures and to probe the affairs of wealthy international families. As such there can be both financial and reputational and privacy concerns. This course will compare the approaches to financial issues in divorce taken by different jurisdictions and consider pre-emptive strategies for mitigating the potential damage, including the use of pre- and post-nuptial agreements and the effect of matrimonial asset protection planning on structuring and the management of family wealth.
